ON NEW ROYAL
By the gracious Royal will of His Majesty Rukirabasaija Agutamba Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I, by The Grace of God Omukama (King) of Bunyoro-Kitara, Ruler of Hoima, Masindi, Kibaale and Buliisa, The Grandson of Kabalega, The Healer, The Orphan Protector, The Hater of Rebellion, The Lion of Bunyoro, The Hero of Bunyoro, The Hero of Kabalega etc, The Forty-ninth Omukama of The Kingdom of Bunyoro-Kitara and Twenty-seventh Omukama of The Babiito Dynasty, on the Day of Saint Martyrs Leontius, Ipatius and Theodulos, on 18. June (1. July) of the year of our Lord 2010, The Royal General Register -Arms, Flags, Badges and Bearings- Kingdom of Bunyoro-Kitara was constituted.
As the only and legal Fons Honorum on the territory of His Kingdom, His Majesty is also the Ruler and Patron of the newly founded Register, while the founder of the Register, Mr Peter Ferdinand Gummersbach (Councilor to the King, Government and Supreme Council of Bunyoro-Kitara) was trusted with the duty of The Principal King of Arms – Principal Herald of Arms. To that, The Reverend Father Deacon Nenad M. Jovanovich (The President of our Board for the Heraldic and Genealogical Studies) was also trusted with the duty of The Vice-Principal King of Arms – Herald Marshal.
It was decided that the new Royal Heraldic Authority of Bunyoro-Kitara will be a part of the Royal Household and that, in accordance, the funds acquired by the issuing of Royal Armorial Grants will be, among other things, used for the maintenance of the Royal Palace etc.
The Register, as an administrative, executive, advisory and supreme legal body in the scope of its activities, acts as an office registering and publishing certificates on bearers and proprietors of heraldic and vexillological insignia, names, titles, seals, uniforms, decorations and the like. Its activities also include genealogy and it also serves as the Royal Office of Ceremonial and Protocol and the Royal Chancery of the Orders.
It should also be noted that by the decision and gracious will of His Majesty, every person or institution has the right to a coat of arms and other heraldic and vexillological insignia, if such usage does not violate the heraldic rights of others. This is true both of the subjects of The Kingdom of Bunyoro-Kitara and foreign citizens. That is the reason why the registration of heraldic insignia (be it personal, corporative or civic), in the name of and under the Patronage of His Majesty The King, is considered a necessary condition for determining ownership and protecting the said insignia from possible unauthorized usage.
The seat of The Royal General Register -Arms, Flags, Badges and Bearings- Kingdom of Bunyoro-Kitara is at The Royal Court of Karuziika in the town of Hoima, the capital of The Kingdom of Bunyoro-Kitara.
