CHRIST IS RISEN!

VLADIMIR MOSS, Ph.D.

Vladimir Moss, Ph.D.

Anthony (in Orthodox baptism Vladimir) Edward St. George Moss in London on April 4, 1949, the son of a British diplomat. From 1951 to 1955 he lived in Belgrade, where his father was serving. He went to a Serbian school, had a Serbian nanny, and spoke Serbian fluently. Unfortunately, in later years he lost this knowledge of the Serbian language. However, in addition to his native English he speaks Russian, and some Greek and French.

In 1967 he went to Trinity college, Oxford on a scholarship in classical languages, and graduated in 1970 with a degree in Philosophy and Psychology. In 1970 he went to Russia for the first time, and was immediately attracted to the Orthodox faith. In 1974 he joined the Moscow Patriarchate in London and became Reader of the English Orthodox Parish of the Archangel Michael in Guildford, Surrey. In 1976 he was baptized in the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad in London. In 1978 he was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree in the Psychology of Personality from the University of Surrey, Guildford. In the same year he became a teacher of English as a foreign language. From 1984-85 he was working as a teacher in Thessaloniki, Greece. From 1987 to 1989 he was a research fellow in Psychology in the University of Surrey. From 1989 to 1990 he worked as a translator from Russian to English in the publishing house "Raduga" in Moscow. From 1993 to 1994 he was lecturer in Psychology and Religion in the University of St. Kliment of Ochrid in Sophia, Bulgaria. Since that time, while managing a bed and breakfast business, he has concentrated on research in Orthodox Christian theology and history, and has published many books and articles in many languages, including Serbian.

He is married to Olga Nicolasina Morozova, and lives in England. He is chairman of two trusts: "The Orthodox Foundation of St. Michael" and "The New Ionian Academy".
